Viverone Lake
a suitable place to spend your holidays
This lake is located between the provinces of Biella and Turin. And ‘the third of Piedmont in size, after Lake Maggiore and Orta. It has an area of about 6 sq km, a maximum depth of 70 meters and a perimeter of about 10.500 km.
Certainly not the islands and the attractions of the major resorts, but lately he has been trying to enhance it with some success.

he best day to visit is on the last Sunday of the month, in the period from April to October, when they are organized to do some really interesting proposals.
At the shore of Anzasco market is held Antiques: exhibitors are quite a number and offer a varied enough sample of the goods.
I note that the second Sunday of the month instead of Crafts market is held there.
There is also a fairly large grassy area where you can sunbathe freely and you can swim in an area bounded by the pier.
Starting at 11.00, again from the shore of Anzasco you can embark on a boat that can carry up to 55 people and, within 40 minutes, go around the lake listening to the tour guide who will provide news and very nicely curiosity on the lake.
The cost of the ticket is € 4,00 per person.
If you embark in Viverone to 12.00, and more at a price of 6.00 euro, you will be offered an aperitif with appetizers and wine Erbaluce provided in turn by a restaurateur and winemaker of the lake.
Then climbing a bit ‘on the hill you can visit the beautiful castle of Roppolo. The building is currently divided between private restaurant, Enoteca Regionale della Serra and also visited local only on the last Sunday of the month from 15.30 to 19.00 (the castle I will talk about shortly).
The route which I have discussed so far can be done on your own, (as we did) or, at a cost of € 19.00, you can buy the ticket “Lagovagando” that offers all of these proposals and in most lunch in a bar on the lakeside of Viverone.
WHAT TO VISIT
AGLIÈ CASTLE
The origins of this castle date back to the 12th century. It has been owned by the State since 1939, when it was bought from the Royal Family and later remodelled as a museum.
ROPPOLO CASTLE
This castle dates back to the 10th century and is now the Regional Wine Shop. Here you can taste wine and sample local products.
MASINO CASTLE
This castle was the main residence of the Counts of Valperga. Visitors will enjoy admiring the frescoes, the splendid hand-made furniture, and a museum of 18th-century carriages.
SANCTUARY OF OROPA
Dedicated to the Black Madonna, this Sanctuary is situated at about 1200 metres above sea level in a natural amphitheatre in the Alpine foothills of Biella.

BIELLA
Of prehistoric origins, this city is famous throughout the world for its textile industries.
IVREA
Ivrea: Founded by the Salassi in the 4th century B.C., it was later called Augusta Eporedia by the Romans (100 B.C.). In addition to its monuments and IT industry, Ivrea is also famous for its Carnival traditions, including a replica of local historical events culminating in the “battle of the oranges”.
AOSTA
Built by the Romans around 25 B.C. and named Augusta Praetoria Salassorum, this city is a treasure trove of history and culture. Its most famous monuments and sites of interest include the Arch of Augustus, the Roman Theatre, the Praetorius Gate, and the Minster of Saint Orso.
TURIN
Probably constructed on the Castrum – or camp – of Julius Caesar’s troops during the Gallic Wars, this city was known as Augusta Julia Taurinorum. Turin’s most famous monuments and sites of interest include the Mole Antonelliana, the Egyptian Museum, the Royal Palace, and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, where the Holy Shroud is kept. Turin is also famous for its automobile industry.
MILAN
Founded by the Celts of the Insubres around 600 B.C., in 222 B.C. it was conquered by the Romans, who then called it Mediolanum. The most famous monuments and sites of interest in Milan include the Cathedral, Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” in the refectory of the Convent of Our Lady of Graces, and La Scala opera house.
